Data Professional | BI & Analytics
Hello! My name's Mahesh Pandey, a data professional passionate about turning raw numbers into meaningful stories and insights that drive real-world impact. My journey into data analytics and cloud engineering has been shaped by an innate curiosity, a problem-solving mindset, and a strong desire to bring clarity to complex information.
I thrive on uncovering patterns, trends, and opportunities hidden within data, transforming them into actionable insights that empower businesses to make smarter, more informed decisions. Whether it’s analysing large datasets, automating reporting, or optimising workflows, I am always looking for ways to harness data’s potential and drive efficiency.
I began my career in accounting and finance, working extensively with financial modelling, budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis. During my time as an external management accountant for Geotech Limited at Pounamu Accounting, I utilised Excel-based financial models to support business planning and decision-making. Additionally, my work with the Cancer Society involved dashboard development and ongoing data maintenance, ensuring smooth and reliable reporting processes.
Recognising the growing importance of data analytics in overall business strategy, I expanded my expertise to include SQL, Power BI, Python, and R - allowing me to extract, analyse, and visualise complex datasets. Over the years, I have worked on projects involving automated reporting, optimised data pipelines, and interactive business intelligence dashboards, helping organisations turn raw data into actionable insights.
As businesses increasingly move towards cloud-based solutions, I have also strengthened my skills in Azure Cloud, focusing on building scalable, efficient, and secure data infrastructure. My work involves integrating financial and operational data, streamlining workflows, and enhancing data reliability, ensuring that businesses have real-time access to the insights they need for better decision-making.
For me, data is more than just numbers - it’s the foundation of better business decisions, strategic growth, and efficiency. I love the challenge of deciphering financial and operational patterns, solving business problems, and turning raw data into clear, valuable insights. My goal is to help organisations improve performance, optimise resources, and make informed decisions based on data they can trust.
Beyond work, I love spending time with my son, exploring new trails on short hikes, taking scenic long drives, or experimenting in the kitchen as a passionate home cook. I also enjoy reading books and, when the occasion calls for it, savouring a peaty Islay while reflecting on the week gone by.
I am always keen to connect, collaborate, and exchange ideas on how data, finance, and cloud technologies can work together to drive business success. Contact me via this form.
